HE Advisory is founded by the visionary and philanthropist, Hisham Ezz Al-Arab. With 40+ years of experience across the Middle East, Africa and Europe, building his international banking excellence at the likes of Merrill Lynch, then to JP Morgan and
Deutsche Bank where he left as a Managing Director, until he joined CIB in 1999 and elected as the Managing Director and Chairman of CIB in 2002.
Under his leadership, he transformed the organization from a corporate bank to a full fledged financial institution that was named the World’s Best Bank in Emerging Markets in 3 of the last 4 years. During his tenure, he grew the bank’s market capitalization
from c. USD 200 million to more than USD 6 billion by way of reinvestment of retained earnings and not capital subscription. CIB became the heaviest constituent of the EGX30 index and viewed as Egypt’s bellwether. Hisham’s
advise has been sought across the world in plenty of different avenues.
Mr. Ezz Al-Arab also served on the boards of a number of institutions, whether in his own capacity or in his capacity at the helm of CIB, with focus on the territory where he is synonymous with such as Master Card, Smart Africa, Fairfax Africa, EU-AU
Digital Task Force, and AUC’s Board of Trustees to mention a few.
The tangible impact and success stories Hisham has led at CIB were translated into cases studies at the London Business School and the Harvard Business Review.
